Job Duties: A Caregiver is in a client’s home to establish and maintain a safe and sanitary home environment by assisting clients of all ages with home care management duties. We work in private homes, nursing homes, hospitals, and assisted-living facilities. Caregivers assist with general household activities, routine housecleaning and tasks, and other activities as needed to maintain the client in a safe and sanitary environment. Also, caregivers provide personal care for individuals who can no longer care for themselves by restoring, maintaining, and promoting the health status of clients through home support, health monitoring, and support with activities of daily living. As well, caregivers provide non-medical assistance, compassionate companionship, supervision and socialization to a functionally impaired individual. Job Duties include, but are not limited to the following: Homemaker 1. Cooking: Simple meal or snack preparation, meal planning and serving, doing dishes and cleaning kitchen afterwards, following special diets and food restrictions, encouraging or restricting fluid intake as instructed. 2. General Housekeeping: Sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, taking out the trash, defrosting and cleaning the refrigerator, cleaning the stove or oven. Tidying the client’s immediate living area, cleaning the bathroom and making the client’s bed. 3. Laundry: Changing and laundering bed linens, washing, folding and putting away client’s clothes and linens; ironing and performing minor mending. 4. Escorts and Errands: Shopping for food and essential supplies. Picking up prescribed medications.5. Assistance with Paying Bills: Opening bills, writing checks but not signing them, and delivering payments to designated recipients on behalf of the client. 6. Assistance with communications: Placing the phone within the client’s reach and physically assisting the client with use of the phone, and writing letters. Orienting to daily events and encouraging participation in activities. 7. Observing and reporting on client’s condition. 8. Reminding clients to take medications. Always There caregivers are permitted to remind clients to take medicine, but are not permitted to administer medicines directly from the bottles. The family may put medications into a mediplanner and our caregivers may “remind” clients to take their medications from the mediplanner.
